Spain holds off France to wins the fourth EuroBasket title 2022

Spain beats France 88-76 to Crowns 2022 FIBA EuroBasket Final Champions, overall country's fourth title..




  • Spain made their fans sweat but reclaimed their spot atop the continent by defeating France 88-76 in the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Final.



In a rematch of the EuroBasket 2011 title game, Spain was too behind the Crown, but thanks to the Hernangomez brothers Juancho (27 PTS) and Willy (14 PTS) combined to score 41 points to lead Spain, who moved into sole possession of the third-most European crowns behind only Soviet Union (14) and Yugoslavia (8).



It was Spain’s fourth European Basketball championship in its last six tries, all those golds coming under coach Sergio Scariolo.




It was the first time that Spain did not trail by double figure in the Knockout Phase, having had to rally back in their other three games in Berlin.

  • Lorenzo Brown scored 14 points and had 11 assists for Spain, while Jaime Fernandez scored 13.

  • Evan Fournier led France — with 23 points, with Thomas Heurtel scored 16 and Guerschon Yabusele added 13.

Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves was held to only six points on just two shots from the field for France.




Germany’s won first EuroBasket medal since winning silver in 2005



  • In the bronze-medal matchup earlier Sunday, Dennis Schroder of the Los Angeles Lakers scored 26 points and host Germany held off Poland.

  • It was Germany’s first EuroBasket medal since winning silver in 2005. Poland matched its best finish in the event since 1971.
