The WNBA revealed the Las Vegas Aces' Wilson has won the WNBA MVP award for the second time in three seasons, capping a remarkable season for her and the Aces. Las Vegas advanced to the 2022 WNBA Finals over Stewart's Seattle Storm less than 24 hours prior to the vote's reveal.

- A'ja Wilson (478 total points, 31 votes for 1st place, 24 votes for 2nd)
- Breanna Stewart (446 total points, 23 votes for 1st place, 28 votes for 2nd)
Wilson is just the seventh player in WNBA history to win the award multiple times, Lauren Jackson, Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes, Cynthia Cooper, Elena Delle Donne and Candace Parker to earn the award at least twice.
Wilson, who was also named the Kia WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, joined Jackson, Yolanda Griffith, Swoopes, and Leslie as the only other players to earn both the MVP and DPOY titles in the same season. In addition, she is the first player to do it in 15 seasons.

Wilson guided the Aces to a franchise-best record of 26-10 and the top overall seed in the WNBA playoffs while averaging 19.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Wilson played 40 minutes and recorded a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds in their victory over Seattle to seal the series.
