Passionate Sri Lanka Crowned Asia Cup champions for sixth time

Asia Cup 2022 Final: Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 23 runs to win their sixth Asia Cup title in UAE.

  • Sri Lanka was Crowned Asian Champions for the sixth time by defeating Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 Final playing at the Duabi Stadium.

  • Mohammad Rizwan stood out by hitting 55 runs off 49 balls as Pakistan's batsmen managed to score 147 runs in the allotted 20 overs in pursuit of Sri Lanka's 171-run goal.

 Asia Cup 2022 Final: in the match played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat first.



First Sri Lanka Innings.



With a total score of 2, opener Kaushal was bowled by Naseem Shah's excellent ball in the first over of Sri Lanka's batting in the Asia Cup final, which did not go well at all.

Patham Nissanka, who had scored eight runs before being caught out by Haris Rauf, caused Sri Lanka to suffer its second defeat.



The third wicket for the Sri Lankan team was lost in the sixth over with the score at 36. Ghanathilaka was unable to handle the quick ball from Haris Rauf and was bowled for one run, while Iftikhar Ahmed sent set-beater Dhananjaya De Silva to the pavilion for 28 runs.

Dasan Shanka, the skipper of Sri Lanka, was bowled by Shadab after scoring only two runs. This was the team's fifth defeat.

Hasaranga and Bhanuka Rajapaksa put together an outstanding partnership of 58 runs after five wickets fell for 58 runs, however Hasaranga was eventually out for 36 runs off 21 balls.

Rajapaksa played a bold innings in the closing overs, getting 71 runs off 45 balls to remain unbeaten. Karunaratne added 14 runs to his total.

Haris Rauf grabbed three wickets for Pakistan, while Naseem, Shadab, and Iftikhar each took one.



Second Pakistan Innings



The Pakistani side struggled to get going while trying to chase down Sri Lanka's 171-run goal. Captain Babar Azam, who had previously struggled to put together a strong performance, was dismissed for only 8 runs, and rookie batter Fakhar Zaman was out for 0 after the first delivery. Pavilion came back.


Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan put on a 71-run partnership after 2 wickets fell for 22 runs, but Iftikhar was caught after making 32 runs off 31 balls.



After Khushdil Shah 2, Muhammad Asif Safar, and Shadab Khan were out after reaching 8 runs each, the middle order proved to be a wall of sand as Pakistan's fourth wicket fell on 102 runs. Muhammad Nawaz had departed the team after scoring 6 runs.



The Pakistani team was destroyed for 147 runs in 20 overs despite Mohammad Rizwan's 55 runs off 49 balls, who was also unable to lead Pakistan to victory.

Hasaranga grabbed three wickets, while Madhushan took four for Sri Lanka.
