Naseem heroic 6's, PAK def AFG in Last-Over Thriller Qualify for Final

Naseem Shah heroic last-over Sixes, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by one wicket, qualified for Asia Cup 2022 Final.

Pakistan won the toss in this match at Sharjah Cricket Ground and elected to bowl first.

The Pakistani bowlers were timid at first, but then they did not allow the Afghan batters to play freely. In the allotted 20 overs, the Afghan squad could only manage 129 runs for the loss of six wickets.



The squad got off to a solid start with 36 runs from Hazratullah Zazai and Rehmanullah Garbaz, but the Pakistani bowlers eventually overwhelmed the Afghan batters.

Ibrahim Zadran was the standout batter, scoring 35 runs off 37 balls, while Hazratullah Zazai scored 21, Rahmanullah Garbaz scored 17, Karim Jannat scored 15, and Najeebullah Zadran scored 10.



The Afghan team reached 129 in the final moments, owing to Rashid Khan's unbeaten 18 and Azmatullah Orakzai's 10 runs.

Haris Rauf grabbed two wickets for Pakistan, while Naseem Shah, Hasnain, Shadab, and Muhammad Nawaz each took one.

In chase of the target, the national batters were unable to demonstrate good batting and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Babar Azam was out on the first ball, Fakhar Zaman could only manage 5 runs, and Mohammad Rizwan could only manage 20 runs, resulting in the national side losing three crucial wickets for 45 runs.



In such a predicament, Shadab Khan scored 36 runs off 26 balls to boost the team's chances of victory, while Iftikhar Ahmed contributed 30 runs.

When Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed also returned to the pavilion at Pakistan's score of 97, the Pakistani squad found it tough to score runs.



When the national team needed 11 runs to win in the final over, tail-ender Naseem Shah hit two sixes in two balls to give Pakistan the victory.

Fazul Haq Farooqui and Fareed Ahmed both took three wickets for Afghanistan, but Rashid Khan only took one.

Yesterday, India was defeated by Sri Lanka by six wickets in 2022 Asia Cup Super Four match, after which Sri Lanka was first in Super 4 with four points in two matches, Pakistan was in second position with two points in one match.
