Japan rout US to wins 2023 World Baseball Classic 3rd title

World Baseball Classic 2023: Japan beats United Stats 3-2 to wins the third WBC title, Full Scores.

  • Taichung, Tokyo, Phoenix and Miami will be the four host cities of the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
  • The World Baseball Classic has confirmed the schedule dates, times, stadiums and pools for the upcoming tournament.

Along with millions of fans throughout Japan and the United States, Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout had dreamed of this occasion: the two biggest stars on the planet, longtime teammates, facing off at a height of 60 feet, 6 inches, with the world championship on the line.

Once Trout swung under a slider on the outside corner to complete the 3-2 victory on Tuesday night, Japan had won the World Baseball Classic for the first time since 2009.

Ohtani, the two-way star who has won over fans on two continents, was chosen as the World Baseball Classic's MVP after going 2-0 with a save, a 1.86 ERA, and striking out 11 batters in 9 2/3 innings while pitching. Ohtani hit.435 with one home run, four doubles, eight RBIs, and 10 walks.

After that, Japan and the Dominican Republic were the only unbeaten nations to win baseball's top national team competition.

The Samurai Warriors reached the championship game for the first time since winning the first two World Baseball Classics in 2006 and 2009 after going 7-0 and outscoring opponents 56-18. No other country has received the honour more than once.

With his fifth home run of the competition, Trea Turner gave the United States an advantage over Shota Imanaga (1-0), tying the WBC record set by Seung Yuop Lee of South Korea in 2006.

In preparation for the sixth inning, Ohtani, the designated hitter for Japan, went to the bullpen first.

In the seventh inning, he returned to the dugout and hit an infield single before once more making his way down the left-field line to Japan's bullpen and warming up for his third tournament start on the mound.

In the ninth inning, he intentionally walked major league batting champion Jeff McNeil before getting six-time All-Star Mookie Betts to ground into a double play.

Trout, the American captain and a 10-time All-Star and three-time MVP, was mentioned as a result.
