Blazers beats Knicks, win NBA 2K23 Summer League title

NBA 2K23: Portland Blazers beats New York Knicks 85-77, wins 2022 NBA Summer League title.





  • Brandon Williams scored 22 points to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to an 85-77 victory over the New York Knicks in the NBA 2K23 Summer League championship game on Sunday.



Since 2017, Portland had been in the championship game three times, winning the event twice.

Jabari Walker, who finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, led the Trail Blazers' bench scoring with 36 points.



Portland's Trendon Watford earned game MVP honours with a final tally of 19 points and 7 rebounds.

Coach Tom Thibodeau was seated courtside for the Knicks' victory, and five players reached double figures. The score of Quentin Grimes was 19.



For New York, Miles McBride had 17, Jericho Sims had 13, Feron Hunt contributed 10, and Micah Potter added 13.

With 42.8 rebounds per game entering the matchup, Portland entered third in the summer league, outrebounding the Knicks 37-32.



The Blazers didn't establish their groove until the beginning of the second quarter in the championship, when they began with three straight 3-pointers to give them a 21-14 lead after defeating New York 88-77 earlier in the game.

They continued to make 3-pointers, making seven in total, to amass an 11-point lead they would carry into the locker room, 41-30.
