This Year marked the 128th running of the Boston Marathon, making it the world's oldest annually run marathon.

An estimated 30,000 runners were scheduled to line up this morning for the running of the 2024 Boston Marathon – traveling from the nearby town of Hopkinton, Massachusetts to the infamous Heartbreak Hill and the finish line in Copley Square.

Switzerland's Marcel Hug, won his seventh Boston Marathon title on Monday, easily beating the rest of the files in the men's wheelchair race.

Hug, 38, finished in an official time of 1:15:35, setting a new course record, beating his old record time of 1:17:06.

American Daniel Romanchuk finished in second place for the second straight year. Britsh athlete David Weir finished third.

Eden Rainbow-Cooper has won the women's wheelchair division at Monday's Boston Marathon, with a time of 1:35:11.

She now heads home to the London Marathon next week.

Manuela Schär finished second, about a minute and a half behind.

Two-time defending champion Evans Chebet of Kenya finished third, failing in his attempt to become the first three-time winner since 2008.

Hellen Obiri of Kenya won the women’s professional division for the second straight year at the Boston Marathon, narrowly edging out good friend and countrywoman Sharon Lokedi. Two-time Boston winner Edna Kiplagat, also of Kenya, finished in third.

Obiri finished in an unofficial 2:22:37. She is the first woman to win back-to-back since 2005.

Her win came after an unprecedented 15 women were still in the lead pack at the 20-mile mark.

What is the Prize Money for the 2024 Boston Marathon Winners, How much winners gets?




Top finishers from 2024 Boston Marathon will take home prize money as well, with a total of $1,137,500 to be awarded to race participants this year, BAA officials said.

The winner of the Boston Marathon in the open division will receive $150,000, and the second and third-place winners will receive $75,000 and $40,000, respectively.

The fourth-place winner will receive $25,000; the fifth-place winner will receive $18,000, respectively.

In the wheelchair division, the top winner will receive $40,000, and the second and third-place winners in this division will receive $25,000 and $12,000, respectively.

The top winner in the master’s division will receive $5,000, while the top winner in the para-athletics division will receive $1,500.
