Al Ahly pushed down Berkane to win 7th CAF Super Cup title

Egyptian Giants Al-Ahly beat Morrocan Berkane yellow's to clinch seventh Total African CAF Super Cup title 2021.




  DOHA:  Mohamed Sherif and Salah Mohsen scored in the second half to give Al Ahly of Egypt a 2-0 win over Renaissance Berkane of Morocco in the 2021 CAF Super Cup match on Friday night at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, A 21st African title.


 The Total CAF Champions League holders were dominant over their Total CAF Confederation Cup counterparts, dominating the match especially in the second half and ensuring they hand coach Pitso Mosimane his second continental title since joining the Cairo giants in October last year.


Al-Ahly Coach, Potso Mosimane won the Champions League as well as finishing third at the Club World Cup with The Red Devils, adding on to the Egyptian Cup he clinched as his first piece of silverware in North Africa.

 The African Super Cup, A annual match between the CAF Champions League and second-tier CAF Confederation Cup winners was watched by a crowd limited to 7,000 in the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium because of coronavirus protocols.

 The CAF Super Cup winner results confirmed the supremacy of Ahly among African clubs with nine victories in the Champions League, seven in the Super Cup, four in the African Cup Winners Cup and one in the Confederation Cup. 

They have won 10 more titles than the next most successful clubs, fellow Egyptians Zamalek and TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo..
