 IPL Auction 2021: African Chris Morris becomes most expensive buy player in IPL auction history. 



Just before the African Chris Morris, Indian star Yuvraj Singh was the costliest-ever buy in IPL auction history as he was bought for Rs 16 crore ( $ 2.2 million )  by Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2015.



South African all-rounder Chris Morris became the most expensive player in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) auction on Thursday when Rajasthan Royals offered him a contract for Rs 16.25 crore ( $ 2.25 million ).

The 33-year-old was discharged by the Royal Challengers of Bangalore after the IPL 2020 season.


Earlier, Yuvraj Singh was the most expensive-buy in auction history ever since he was acquired for Rs 16 crore by Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2015. The former India all-rounder is Pat Cummins (Rs 15.5 crore $2.17M, 2020) and Ben Stokes (14.5 crore $2.07M, 2017).



Morris played 70 IPL matches for 80 wickets with an economy of 7.81, except for 551 wickets with a strike rate of more than 157.



On the other side, IPL's perennial under-performer Glenn Maxwell once again won big money at the auction with Royal Challengers Bangalore bidding Rs 14.25 crore, $1.95M to secure his services.
