France draw Russia, Hungry in A, Death Group D in FedCup Finals

Women's Tennis: Defending champions France in Group A of Fed Cup Finals 2020 Draw.






Reigning Fed Cup champions France has been drawn with Russia and hosts and automatic qualifiers Hungary in Group A for the inaugural Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals at the official draw ceremony, held in host city Budapest from April 14-19...


Australia, who qualified automatically for the Fed Cup Finals as last year’s finalists, will take on Belarus and Belgium in Group B, while 18-time Fed Cup champions and No.3 seeds USA are joined in Group C by Spain and Slovakia.

Eleven-time champions the Czech Republic, who received a wild card to the Finals and are seeded No.4, will take on Germany and Switzerland in Group D.

 Last year's runners-up Australia face Belgium and surprise finalists Belarus.

With France, Australia, USA and the Czech Republic pre-assigned to Groups A to D respectively, Finals nations seeded 5-8 were drawn into separate groups, before nations ranking 9-12 were drawn to complete the 12-team competition’s group stage.

One team from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners of Group A and Group C facing off in the top of the bracket, and the winners of Group B and Group D battling for the second spot in the final for the chance to be crowned Fed Cup world champions in 2020.
