Liverpool at Aston Villa & Club World Cup fixtures in less than 24 hours, 4,000 miles away.
Liverpool Football Club has been confirmed that they will play their both fixtures Carabao Cup quarter-final vs Aston Villa tie on Tuesday, December 17 (7.45pm kick-off), despite the 4000 miles away in FIFA Club World Cup 2019 fixtures at Qatar on Wednesday 18, 2019 (at 17:30 GMT kick-off).
Jurgen Klopp's side has confirmed that they'll play two games in just two days with the span of Less than in 24 hours. Liverpool FC officials said that we will be utilizing two playing squads simultaneously, with one squad participating in the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar and another in the Carabao Cup.
The League Cup clash with Aston Villa, which had been tentatively suggested for January 8, 2020, will now be played the same midweek as the three other last-eight ties.
But it is almost certain that the team that goes to Birmingham will be mainly youth players, as the first team will be in Doha for the Club World Cup.
A Liverpool official statement about combined fixtures:
"We would like to thank the EFL for their efforts to accommodate us and we can confirm alternative dates were discussed, but ultimately none were considered suitable without compromising the scheduling of the competition itself or placing an undue strain on our playing staff.
"As a result, we will be utilising two playing squads simultaneously, with one squad participating in the Fifa Club World Cup in Qatar and another in the Carabao Cup.
"The club would like to take this opportunity to underline that while this is not an ideal scenario, it is an outcome which was arrived at with the best interests of the competition, our fellow clubs and ourselves as the sole motivating factor."
