Twelve seeded nations will be drawn against 12 unseeded nations to compete in the Qualifiers on March 6-7 2020.


 The winning teams in the Qualifiers will book their place in next year's Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals.

How the New-Look 2020 Davis Cup Works-or process?



The 12 winners of the Qualifiers on 6-7 March next year will compete alongside the six nations that have automatically qualified for the 2020 Finals - the four 2019 semi-finalists Canada, Great Britain, Russia, and Spain, as well as the two 2020 wild cards France and Serbia.

The 12 home-and-away ties will consist of four singles matches and one doubles match with all matches played over the best-of-three tiebreak sets. Two singles matches will be played on Friday 6 March, with the doubles match followed by two reverse singles matches on Saturday 7 March.

The 12 winning nations in the Qualifiers will compete in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals 2020.

The 12 losing nations will compete in World Group I ties in September 2020.

The draw is as follows:

Croatia (s) (c) v Pakistan/India 

 Croatia finished third in Group B at the Davis Cup Finals this year. The 2018 champions will hope to have a strong backup when they host either Pakistan or India.



Hungary (c) v Belgium (s) 

Hungary won a narrow 3-2 victory over Ukraine in September to advance to the Qualifiers where they will face a Belgium side.



Colombia (c) v Argentina (s) 

Colombia put up a strong fight at the Davis Cup Finals but eventually finished third in Group D. Argentina advanced to the quarter-finals from Group C.



USA (s) (c) v Uzbekistan 

 USA win over Italy in Group F at the Davis Cup Finals but lost to finalists Canada for the first time to miss out on the knockout stages. Uzbekistan defeated Lebanon 3-2 in Group I ties to reach the Qualifiers.



Australia (s) (c) v Brazil 

 Australia lost to Canada in the quarter-finals in Madrid, while Brazil, who got a comfortable 3-1 victory against Barbados in Group I ties to reach the Qualifiers.



Italy (s) (c) v Korea, Rep. 

Italy narrow 2-1 defeats to both Canada and USA. They will host Korea, Rep. in the nations’ first meeting since 1987, the Koreans beat China 3-1 to reach the Qualifiers for the first time.



Germany (s) (c) v Belarus 

Germany defeated Argentina and Chile to reach the quarter-finals, Belarusdefeated Portugal 3-2 in September to advance to the Qualifiers next year.



Kazakhstan (s) (c*) v Netherlands 

Kazakhstan beat Netherlands 2-1 before losing narrowly to Great Britain and missing out on the knockout stages.



Slovakia (c*) v Czech Republic (s) 

The hosts Slovakia advanced to the Qualifiers after an impressive 3-1 victory over Switzerland, while the Czechs defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-2.



Austria (s) (c) v Uruguay 

Dominic Thiem helped Austria a narrow 3-2 win in Finland and again continue their winning streak against Uruguay. The visitors defeated Dominican Republic 3-1 to reach the Qualifiers for the first time.



Japan (s) (c*) v Ecuador 

Japan will hope to have Kei Nishikori in the side when they face Ecuador for the first time, the South Americans reaching the Qualifiers after a convincing 4-0 win against Venezuela.



Sweden (s) (c) v Chile 

Sweden defeated Israel 3-1 to progress to the Qualifiers, where they will host Chile, who finished third in Group C at the Davis Cup Finals following defeats by Argentina and Germany.
