Roger Federer collected 10th Swiss Indoors title in Basel

Roger Federer beat Alex de Minaur won record 10th titles Swiss Indoors final 2019.





Roger Federer grabbed his 10th Swiss Indoors crown with an emphatic 6-2 6-2 victory over Alex de Minaur & Swiss Star takes his lead to pickup the 103rd title of Overall career.

Swiss Star and De Minaur were meeting each other for the first time and serving first in the match, as he was tested early on but he responded to break his opponent and lead 3-1, while the De Minaur trying so hard to keep him up but Federer pull him down with the first set win 6-2.

Federer, competing in his 157th ATP final, duly sealed victory in one hour eight minutes against the Australian, 20, De Minaur for his fourth title of the season.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner, who first reached the Swiss final in 2000, is now only six short of the ATP record for singles titles, held by Jimmy Connors, the overall 109 titles of his career.

And speaking after the match, Federer admitted surviving the first game was the catalyst for him to go on and make history at his home tournament.




He said: "I had 40-0 and he got back into the game.

"I think if I get broken that is obviously a tough one. After that I think it was important for me to hold serve to show I could hold my serve easier.

"I was able to do that and I think I kept on rolling."


"I thought Alex played a great tournament as well, and I think we both can be very happy," he said. "But what a moment for me to win my 10th here in my hometown of Basel. I made very few unforced errors and came up with the big shots and served well when I had to."
