Bounedjah early goal Algeria win first AFCON title in 29 years

Algeria beat Senegal 1-0 win Africa Cup of Nations 2019 title.




 Algeria won the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 title for the first time in 29 years and overall second title as a  Baghdad Bounedjah's early goal secured a 1-0 win against Senegal in the AFCON 2019 final in Cairo.

 Senegal, who have never won the competition, was awarded a penalty for handball in the second half but it was overturned after a VAR review.
 Senegal, making only their second appearance in the final since 2002.

Algeria closed out the rest of the game to win their first title since 1990.

 Mbaye Niang nearly found an equaliser for Senegal in the 66th minute when he rounded Algeria keeper Rais M'Bolhi but he was unable to steer his shot on target from a tight angle. M'Bolhi was called into action a couple of minutes later when he made a crucial save from a shot rocketed in by Youssouf Sabaly.


 The Lions of Teranga continued to knock on Algeria's door, pushing for an equaliser. Ismaila Sarr had an opportunity for a volley just inside the penalty area, but his effort flew well over M'Bolhi's crossbar.
