Eight World Cup races, ten Para World Cups and three World Championships as highlights in 2018-19 Calendar.

Lausanne (RWH) The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation IBSF has revealed the initial sports calendar/timetable for the 2018/2019 season.


Accordingly, eight BMW IBSF World Cups, Intercontinental Cups, European Cups, and North American Cups, and additionally ten Para-Sport World Cups, are on the program for the post-Olympic winter. What's more, there will be the BMW IBSF World Championships in Whistler (CAN), the IBSF Junior World Championships in Königssee (GER) and the IBSF Para-Sport World Championships toward the end of March 2019.

The IBSF season 2018/2019 will begin toward the end of October with a preparation week on the World Championship course in Whistler (CAN). There, the race season starts with the IBSF North American Cup (November 5-11, 2018).

 IBSF World Cups Calendar:  7 Dec 2018 - 24 Feb 2019

The World Cup is the premier circuit on the IBSF calendar. It features eight races across eight different venues in Europe and North America, with Austria, Canada, Germany, Latvia, Switzerland, and the United States the host nations.



 INTERCONTINENTAL CUP 15 Nov 2018 - 25 Jan 2019

The Intercontinental Cup is a skeleton only circuit, with bobsleigh not featuring here. It sits below the World Cup but above the Europa Cup and North American Cup in terms of sliding standard. Like the World Cup, the season compromises of eight races, but these take place in four venues rather than eight. Austria, Germany and the United States are the host nations.

The Europa Cup circuit features eight races for both bobsleigh and skeleton, although not always at the same time or the same venue. For skeleton, the Europa Cup circuit sits above the North American Cup in the list of circuits, whereas it shares equal importance with the North American Cup as far as the bobsleigh rankings are concerned.

 NORTH AMERICAN CUP 7 Nov 2018 - 13 Jan 2019 

The North American Cup circuit features both skeleton and bobsleigh across four venues in Canada and the United States. There are eight races for each sport, with Calgary, Lake Placid, Park City, and Whistler the chosen tracks. For skeleton, the North American Cup sits below the European Cup in the list of circuits, whereas it shares equal importance with the European Cup as far as the bobsleigh rankings are concerned.
