RBC Canadian Open 2023 : Nick Taylor has become the first Canadian golfer in 69 years to win his national open, holing a 72-foot eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole to beat England's Tommy Fleetwood in the PGA Tour's RBC Canadian Open. at Oakdale Golf & Country Club outside Toronto.



He matched Fleetwood’s birdie on the first playoff hole and after the stalemate continued to a fourth hole, Taylor drained a 73-foot eagle putt on the 18th green at Oakdale Golf and Country Club to break the Canadian winless drought at the RBC Canadian Open.

The last player from Canada to win the Canadian Open was Pat Fletcher in 1954 at Point Grey in Vancouver.


For this Canadian Open win, Rory Nick Taylor claimed a prize money payout of $1.620M from an overall purse of $9 million funf, while the playoff runner-up, Tommy Fleetwood, earned the netted cash worth $981,000.

  • The RBC Canadian Open Championship is a professional golf tournament in Canada It is organized by Golf Canada. Normally it is called RBC Canadian Open due to sponsorship reason.

  • The Inaugural event was held in 1904 & hosted by Royal Montreal Golf Club, Quebec, annually held since then, except for during World War I & II.

  • It is the only national championship that is run by the PGA Tour and is the third oldest continuously running golf tournament on the PGA Tour, after The Open Championship and the U.S. Open.
  • From 2007 it is rescheduled, & held every year at late July.

  • Glen Abbey Golf Course has hosted the most Canadian Opens, with 29 times to date.

  • Jack Nikhalus has never won a single tournament & most time runners-up with seven times.

  • Nick Taylor has become the first Canadian golfer in 69 years to win his national open title Since Pat Fletcher won in 1954 & he is the Current & last Canadian to win the event at home soil.
