RBC Canadian Open 2023 : Nick Taylor has become the first Canadian golfer in 69 years to win his national open, holing a 72-foot eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole to beat England's Tommy Fleetwood in the PGA Tour's RBC Canadian Open. at Oakdale Golf & Country Club outside Toronto.
He matched Fleetwood’s birdie on the first playoff hole and after the stalemate continued to a fourth hole, Taylor drained a 73-foot eagle putt on the 18th green at Oakdale Golf and Country Club to break the Canadian winless drought at the RBC Canadian Open.
The last player from Canada to win the Canadian Open was Pat Fletcher in 1954 at Point Grey in Vancouver.
For this Canadian Open win, Rory Nick Taylor claimed a prize money payout of $1.620M from an overall purse of $9 million funf, while the playoff runner-up, Tommy Fleetwood, earned the netted cash worth $981,000.
