Five-time major winner American Phil Mickelson defeated Justin Thomas in a playoff to win the WGC-Mexico Championship 2018 at Muirfield - his first victory since the 2013 Open.

The oldest man in the Course is now the oldest ever winner of a World Golf Championship-Mexico 2018 event.

It was "pretty unbelievable" he had even had a chance of winning but added he was "happy" that Mickelson won. Said Thomas.

"He's really been working hard to get back in the winner's circle, and it was a great week for both of us."

"This is an emotional win for him, and it's emotional for me, too. He's not just one of the greatest players and personalities, he's one of the greatest people ever to play the game." Added Thomas.
