  • Tournament of Champions Golf is the calendar year opening event of Golf PGA Tour season played in Hawaii on Maui Island in the 1st week of January till 1999.
  • The 1st event of Tournament of Champions was held in 1953 at Maui & won by Al Besselink (USA). .It is compulsory for Golfers to participate in this event must have Tour winner of last year. 
  • From Fall 2013 PGA Tour have moved this event to Sep-Oct of the year. .It has different names in different era, including, MONY, Infiniti, Mercedes, Mercedes-Benz, SBS, Hyundai etc. 
  • Most title wins of Tournament of Champions is by Jack Nicklaus with 5th times.
  • Now from 2017 it is known as SBS Tournament of Champions for sponsorship reason.  
  • 2015 Hyundai Tournament of Champions winner is Patrick Reed, 2016 champion is Jordan Spieth.
  • The prize money for the champion of SBS Tournament of Champions is $1,220,000 from 2017. SBS Tournament of Champions 2017 winner-champion is Justin Thomas
