Wyoming and Colorado State Announce Multi-Sport Border War Agreement Through 2035
LARAMIE, Wyo. (Sept. 2, 2026) – Wyoming Athletics and Colorado State Athletics announced on Wednesday a new multi-year agreement to continue the Border War rivalry across four sports: men’s basketball, women’s basketball, soccer, and volleyball.The eight-year pact will begin in the 2028-29 season. The two schools will also meet in all four sports during the current 2026-27 season and again in 2027-28 before the formal agreement takes effect. Specific dates for future contests will be mutually agreed upon later.
Both athletic departments are also working on a separate agreement to continue the Border War in football for 2027.“We are thrilled to be able to get this scheduling agreement done with Colorado State,” said Wyoming Director of Athletics Tom Burman. “It is in the best interest of both schools; we are 65 miles apart and have a great rivalry and I’m excited to see it unfold into the future.”

Wyoming hosts Colorado State in 2029, 2031, 2033, and 2035

The agreement ensures the historic Border War rivalry continues across multiple sports well into the next decade, preserving one of the most competitive in-state rivalries in the Mountain West region.
