Collingwood star Nick Daicos Makes History to Win the 2026 Brownlow Medal with Record Votings.
Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos has won the 2026 Brownlow Medal, claiming the prestigious AFL award with a record 47 votes in his fifth season.
Daicos finished 11 votes clear of Geelong’s Bailey Smith (36) and Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli (34), matching the record winning margin. He polled in 18 games, including a record six consecutive three-vote games.
The 23-year-old became the 10th Brownlow medallist in Collingwood history and the club’s first since Dane Swan in 2011. He also became only the second player to surpass 40 votes in a Brownlow count and broke Patrick Cripps’ previous record of 45 votes.
Daicos capped off a remarkable season in which he led the AFL in disposals, averaging 34.7 per game, while also recording 9.0 score involvements per match.
Daicos became just the fifth player in AFL history to win the Brownlow Medal along with the AFL Players Association MVP and AFL Coaches' Association champion player award in the same season, joining Gary Ablett jnr (2009), Patrick Dangerfield (2016), Dustin Martin (2017) and Lachie Neale (2020)..
