2026 U.S. Presidents Cup: Six Automatic Qualifiers Confirmed After BMW Championship
The 2026 U.S. Presidents Cup team is beginning to take shape after the conclusion of the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club.
The top six players in the U.S. Presidents Cup points standings have officially secured automatic spots on Captain Brandt Snedeker's 12-man team.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and World No. 3 Cameron Young had already secured their places. Sam Burns and Russell Henley also remained safely inside the qualifying positions.
The biggest movement came from Wyndham Clark, who jumped from seventh to third after winning the BMW Championship. His victory pushed Ben Griffin out of the automatic qualifying positions.
Collin Morikawa also held onto the sixth and final automatic spot after finishing ahead of Chris Gotterup in the standings.
Six captain's picks remain. Snedeker will make those selections after the Tour Championship.
The 2026 Presidents Cup will be played at Medinah Country Club in Chicago from September 22 through September 27.

1. Scottie Scheffler

Presidents Cup Record: 3-5-1
Scottie Scheffler remains the leading player in the U.S. standings and earned nearly twice as many points as the next player.
The world No. 1 has won twice during the 2026 season, with his most recent victory coming at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Scheffler remains one of the biggest names in the U.S. lineup. However, his team competition record leaves room for improvement.
He went 1-4 at last year's Ryder Cup at Bethpage and will look to produce a stronger performance at Medinah.
2. Cameron Young
Age: 29

Presidents Cup Appearances: 2, 2022, 2026
Presidents Cup Record: 1-2-1
Cameron Young secured his second Presidents Cup appearance after a standout 2026 season.
Young made his Presidents Cup debut at Quail Hollow in 2022. He later showed his ability to perform in team competition with a 3-1 record at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
His 2026 season has included victories at The Players Championship and Cadillac Championship.
Young also finished third at the Masters and second at The Open, making him one of the key players to watch in Chicago.
3. Wyndham Clark

Presidents Cup Record: 1-2-1
Wyndham Clark made one of the biggest jumps in the standings at the BMW Championship.
Clark entered the event seventh in the points standings but moved into third after winning at Bellerive Country Club.
His 2026 season has been impressive. He has won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, captured a second U.S. Open title and added the BMW Championship to his list of victories.
Clark's form has also put him firmly into the Player of the Year conversation.
4. Sam Burns
Age: 30
World Ranking: No. 7
Presidents Cup Appearances: 3, 2022, 2024, 2026
Presidents Cup Record: 3-3-3
Sam Burns has become a regular member of U.S. international teams.
Although Burns has not won since 2023, his consistency during the 2026 season helped him secure an automatic Presidents Cup spot.
He entered the BMW Championship with six consecutive top-20 finishes. His season also includes a runner-up finish at the U.S. Open and a third-place finish at The Open.
Burns will make his third Presidents Cup appearance in Chicago.
5. Russell Henley
Age: 37
World Ranking: No. 6
Presidents Cup Appearances: 2, 2024, 2026
Presidents Cup Record: 3-1-0
Russell Henley secured his place after another consistent season.
Henley won the Charles Schwab Challenge in May and produced strong performances in major championships, including a tie for third at the Masters and a tie for ninth at The Open.
He also formed a successful partnership with Scottie Scheffler during the 2024 Presidents Cup, finishing with a 3-1 record.
Henley will now prepare for his second Presidents Cup appearance.
6. Collin Morikawa
Age: 29

Presidents Cup Record: 6-2-0
Collin Morikawa secured the final automatic qualifying position after holding off Chris Gotterup.
Morikawa has been a consistent performer for the U.S. Presidents Cup team and owns a strong 6-2 record in the competition.
He won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February but spent part of the season dealing with a back injury.
His strong performance at the BMW Championship was enough to secure his third Presidents Cup appearance.
Morikawa will look to improve on his 0-2-1 Ryder Cup record from last year.
