MLB Trade Deadline 2026 Buyers and Sellers Guide: Where All 30 Teams Stand One Month Out

The 2026 MLB trade deadline is set for Monday, August 3 at 6 p.m. ET. With just over a month remaining, many teams are still evaluating whether to buy, sell, or do both in a wide-open playoff picture.

Here is a full breakdown of where every team stands heading into the final stretch.

Arizona Diamondbacks: Buyer

GM Mike Hazen has confirmed the D-backs are buyers. Arizona remains in the NL Wild Card hunt and desperately needs starting pitching and bullpen help, especially with Corbin Burnes sidelined.

Athletics (Sacramento): Soft Buyer

The A's are hovering around .500 and in the mix for the AL West and Wild Card. They are more focused on the future in Las Vegas than going all-in now, but they could pursue controllable starting pitching.

Atlanta Braves: Buyer

The Braves are one of the strongest teams in baseball and clear buyers. Adding a reliable No. 2 starter behind Chris Sale would be a major boost.

Baltimore Orioles: Buyer (Trending Toward Seller)

The O's have slipped in the standings recently. They are currently buyers for bullpen and rotation help, but could quickly shift to sellers if the slide continues. Taylor Ward would be a highly sought-after bat.

Boston Red Sox: Seller Trending Toward Buyer

Boston has been streaky but remains in Wild Card contention. They could sell rentals like Aroldis Chapman while adding controllable talent.

Chicago Cubs: Buyer (Probably)

The Cubs have been inconsistent but are currently in the Wild Card mix. They need all types of pitching. There is also talk they could move Seiya Suzuki for long-term pitching help.

Chicago White Sox: Buyer

Surprisingly in the AL Central mix, the White Sox are buyers — but smart ones. They will target players with long-term control that fit their young core.

Cincinnati Reds: Seller

After a poor stretch, the Reds are likely sellers. Nathaniel Lowe, Brady Singer, Tyler Stephenson, and Eugenio Suárez headline their available rentals.

Cleveland Guardians: Buyer

Cleveland is in the AL Central and Wild Card race. Expect them to add depth pieces, particularly in the bullpen and rotation.

Colorado Rockies: Seller

The Rockies are clear sellers. Antonio Senzatela could be one of the top relievers available, and power-hitting catcher Hunter Goodman may draw significant interest.

Detroit Tigers: Seller (Most Likely)

Detroit has cooled off. Tarik Skubal is the top starter available on the market, while Casey Mize could also draw strong interest as a free agent after 2026.

Houston Astros: Buyer

The Astros have been one of the hottest teams since mid-May and are buyers for pitching and a left-handed bat.

Kansas City Royals: Seller

A disappointing season has the Royals leaning toward selling. Starling Marte and Lane Thomas could attract interest as right-handed outfield bats.

Los Angeles Angels: Seller

The Angels should sell, with controllable arms Reid Detmers and José Soriano headlining their offerings.

Los Angeles Dodgers: Buyer

The Dodgers are perennial buyers. They may look for bullpen help or rotation insurance.

Miami Marlins: Buyer (With Possible Selling)

After a strong June, the Marlins are in the Wild Card race. They could add pieces while also moving rentals like Pete Fairbanks.

Milwaukee Brewers: Buyer

The Brewers are strong contenders and will look to improve their roster, possibly through buy-and-sell moves.

Minnesota Twins: Seller (Probably)

The Twins are trending upward but still feel like sellers. Joe Ryan and Ryan Jeffers could draw big interest.

New York Mets: Seller

Following a managerial change, the Mets are sellers.

Freddy Peralta, A.J.

Minter, and Brooks Raley headline their available pieces.

New York Yankees: Buyer

Despite a recent skid, the Yankees are clear buyers, primarily for bullpen help and possibly infield/outfield depth.

Philadelphia Phillies: Buyer

The Phillies are surging and buyers. A right-handed outfielder is a top priority.

Pittsburgh Pirates: Buyer

The Pirates remain in the Wild Card race and will look to add bullpen help around Paul Skenes.

St. Louis Cardinals: Seller (Possibly Buyer)

The Cardinals could go either way but lean toward selling controllable pieces like Lars Nootbaar while adding depth.

San Diego Padres: Buyer

The Padres are always aggressive buyers under A.J. Preller. They need starting pitching and offense.

San Francisco Giants: Seller

The Giants are in sell mode. Rentals like Luis Arraez and Robbie Ray are likely to move.

Seattle Mariners: Buyer

The Mariners are in the AL West mix and will buy, especially middle relief help.

Tampa Bay Rays: Buyer and Seller

The Rays could add a power bat while moving pieces. Their unique approach often includes creative deals.

Texas Rangers: Buyer

Riding a hot streak into first place in the AL West, the Rangers are buyers for bats and pitching.

Toronto Blue Jays: Buyer

Despite inconsistency, Toronto remains in the Wild Card race and will buy pitching and help for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Washington Nationals: Seller (More Likely)

The Nationals are hovering near .500 but are more likely to sell than buy as they evaluate their direction. The next four weeks will be critical as teams finalize their deadline strategies in what remains one of the most unpredictable MLB seasons in recent memory.
