Trump Announces Freedom 250 Rally Lineup with Lee Greenwood After Concert Cancellations

President Donald Trump has announced the lineup for a rally celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary after several musicians pulled out of the planned Freedom 250 concert series. In a June 4 social media post, Trump said country singer Lee Greenwood will perform his hit “God Bless the U.S.A.” at the June 24 event before Trump delivers the headlining speech.“We don’t want singers with no talent, but big fees to put you to sleep,” Trump wrote. “We’ve told them all to stay home. All we want is you, me, a few speakers, and the Greatest Music ever played.”

Although the event is now positioned as a rally rather than a full concert, several musical performances remain on the schedule:

Country singer Lee Greenwood

Opera singer Christopher Macchio

U.S. Army Band

Armed Forces Choir

U.S. Marine Band

Joint Armed Forces Chorus

Greenwood, a longtime Trump supporter, called the opportunity “a tremendous honor.” Macchio previously performed at Trump’s 2025 inauguration.

Background on the Changes

Freedom 250, the organization formed by Trump to mark America’s 250th anniversary, had originally planned a 16-day concert series as part of the “Great America State Fair.” However, multiple artists withdrew last week, citing concerns over the event’s perceived political nature and confusion about its purpose.Country artist Martina McBride said she was misled into believing the event would be non-partisan. Bret Michaels cited the event’s “divisive” direction as the reason for his departure. In response, Trump announced he would replace the concert series with a rally headlined by himself.

Great American State Fair Continues

While the multi-day concerts were canceled, the broader Great American State Fair will proceed as planned from June 25 to July 10 on the National Mall. The fair will feature pavilions representing all 56 states and territories, specialty exhibits, and classic fair attractions, according to Freedom 250’s website.Danielle Alvarez, a spokesperson for Freedom 250, confirmed that Trump will kick off the fair at the June 24 rally.
