Hardest sports player names to spell, From Antetokounmpo to Saltalamacchia, Could you use that in a sentence?

Before Google and the internet, people used dictionaries to check how words were spelled.

Today, many people still misspell names—especially in sports—because they don’t pay much attention to details.

Meanwhile, the world’s best young spellers are competing this week at the 98th Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. The winner will earn $52,500 and major bragging rights.

To celebrate the National Spelling Bee, here are some of the hardest sports names to spell:

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAHN-iss Ah-dedo-KOON-bo) - The GOAT of misspellings in the sports world should be easier, given how much he has accomplished (2 NBA MVPs, one championship) in his career.

2. Mike Krzyzewski (Shuh-SHEF-skee) - The legendary former Duke coach made it easier for all of us over the years ... just call him Coach K.

3. Tua Tagovailoa (TUNG-oh-vy-LOH-ah) - Anyone outside of football would be hard-pressed to try to pronounce the name of the current quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons. In this case, spelling Tagovailoa is a layup. His given first name is Tuanigamanuolepola.

4. Jhostynxon García (Yos-TIN-son) - If this name didn't exist for the Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder, hackers wanting his personal information wouldn't have a chance in hell of ever guessing his password. Hence, the nickname.

5. Jarrod Saltalamacchia (SAWL-tuh-luh-MACK-ee-uh) - Nothing wrong with this claim to fame: He once held the MLB record for the longest last name at 14 letters.

6. Kyle Juszczyk (YOOZ-check) - This Harvard grad is regarded as one of the NFL's best fullbacks.

7. Mark Grudzielanek (Grud-zuh-LAH-nick) - A solid infielder, Grudzielanek carved out a nice 15-year career with six MLB teams.

8. Doug Mientkiewicz (Mint-KAY-vitch) - Most famous for trying to keep the ball he caught for the final out of the 2004 World Series with the Boston Red Sox.

9. Louis Oosthuizen (Loo-uhs Owst-hau-zn) - This South African golfer won the 2010 British Open Championship. Two O's to start any surname is crazy work.

10. Marnus Labuschagne: (MAR-nis -- lah-boo-SHAYN (the "g" is silent) - Marnus Labuschagne is an international cricketer who plays as a right-handed top-order batter and right-arm leg-spin bowler for the Australian national team. He plays for Domestic Queensland, BBL Brisbane Heat, and Glamorgan in English county cricket. He notably captained the Hyderabad Kingsmen in PSL.

11. Ndamukong Suh (En-DOM-uh-ken) - Luckily, Suh isn't around the football field to bodyslam you should you mispronounce his name.

12. Marc Rzepczynski (Zep-CHIN-skee) - There is a reason why this former major league pitcher's nickname was Scrabble.

13. Nnamdi Asomugha (NAHM-dee AH-suhm-wah) - This former All-Pro cornerback has parlayed his post-football career into becoming an actor. Being married to actress Kerry Washington ain't bad either.
