The 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature not one, but three opening ceremonies — one for each host nation (Mexico, United States, and Canada).According to a report from The Athletic, FIFA is planning special pre-match performances for each host country’s opening group stage match. Global superstar Katy Perry is set to headline the United States’ opening ceremony.

The tournament kicks off on June 11, 2026, with three host nations playing on consecutive days:
June 11 – Mexico vs South Africa at Estadio Azteca (Mexico City)
June 12 – United States vs Paraguay at SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, California)
June 13 – Canada vs Bosnia and Herzegovina at BMO Field (Toronto)
Each opening ceremony will last between 13 and 17 minutes and begin approximately 90 minutes before kickoff.

FIFA to Celebrate USA’s 250th Anniversary
The United States will mark its Semiquincentennial (250th anniversary) during the tournament. FIFA plans special celebrations during two Round of 16 matches scheduled for July 4, 2026, in Philadelphia and Houston.

Shakira and Burna Boy will release the official tournament song, “Dai Dai.”
FIFA is also releasing an official album, including the single “Lighter” by Jelly Roll, Carín León, and Cirkut.
