NCAA Softball Tournament bracket revealed: full 64-team field set

NCAA softball fans got plenty to talk about after the committee awarded Alabama Crimson Tide softball the No. 1 overall seed, edging out both Texas Longhorns softball and Oklahoma Sooners softball — even after Alabama fell to Texas in the SEC Tournament championship game on Saturday.

The Southeastern Conference once again dominated the bracket, placing 13 teams into the tournament field. Nine SEC programs earned top-16 national seeds, including six of the top eight overall seeds.

Behind the SEC, the Big Ten Conference, Atlantic Coast Conference and Big 12 Conference each landed seven teams in the tournament.

Tournament action begins Friday, May 15 with the double-elimination regional round. Super Regionals — played in a best-of-three format — run May 21–24.

The road ends at the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, which opens Thursday, May 28. The best-of-three national championship series is scheduled to begin Wednesday, June 3.
