Cristiano Ronaldo Scores Twice as Al-Nassr Finally Win Saudi Pro League Title

Cristiano Ronaldo delivered when it mattered most, scoring twice as Al-Nassr clinched the Saudi Pro League title with a 4-1 victory over Damac on Thursday night. The 41-year-old Portugal captain struck in the second half with a trademark free-kick and a clinical close-range finish, securing the win Al-Nassr needed on the final day of the season. Al Hilal finished just two points behind in second place.

Ronaldo, who hadn’t won a major club trophy since leaving Juventus in 2020, was visibly emotional as he watched the final minutes from the bench, wiping away tears. It marks his first domestic league title in six years and adds the Saudi Pro League to his collection of titles from England, Spain, and Italy, along with his five Champions League crowns.

How the Game Unfolded

Al-Nassr raced into a 2-0 lead but allowed Damac back into the match at 2-1. Ronaldo took control from there. On 63 minutes, his curling free-kick found its way through a crowded penalty area into the far corner. He then sealed the result nine minutes from time, smashing home a cut-back from close range.

What’s Next for Ronaldo?

The all-time leading international goalscorer (with 143 goals) now turns his attention to the 2026 World Cup after being named in Portugal’s squad this week. It will be his sixth appearance at football’s biggest stage.Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 in a massive deal reportedly worth $232 million.

His arrival opened the floodgates for other big-name stars like Neymar and Karim Benzema to move to the Saudi league. While the league has grown in profile and commercial power, it has yet to fully break into the conversation as one of the world’s top five leagues.

This season wasn’t always smooth for Ronaldo. He sat out three matches earlier in the campaign in what appeared to be a protest over Benzema’s move to rivals Al Hilal. He also suffered disappointment last weekend, losing the AFC Champions League Two final.Still, Ronaldo ends the season on a high. He has now scored 973 career goals and remains just 27 away from the magical 1,000-goal milestone.
