Host Nations Outlook

United States

Led by Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams, and Chris Richards, the USMNT will look to use home advantage and their European-based players to go further than ever before.

Canada

Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David provide pace and firepower. Canada are still searching for their first World Cup victory.

Mexico

Raul Jiménez and Edson Álvarez headline a side that traditionally rises to the occasion on home soil in North America.

Top Contenders Breakdown

Spain

Co-favorites alongside France. Despite a recent hamstring injury to teenage star Lamine Yamal (who is expected to recover in time), Spain boast an incredibly talented young squad featuring Pedri, Rodri, and Yamal. Fresh off their 2024 Euros win, they look dangerous.

France

Kylian Mbappé remains the biggest star in world football and is just five goals away from becoming the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history. France’s depth makes them a constant threat.

England

With Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Declan Rice, this is one of the strongest England squads in decades. Many believe they have what it takes to finally end their long wait for major silverware.

Argentina

The defending champions still have Lionel Messi, supported by a strong cast including Julián Álvarez, Lautaro Martínez, and Enzo Fernández.

Brazil

Even during a transitional period, the Seleção remain a major force with Vinícius Júnior leading the line.

Other Major Threats

Germany, Portugal (possibly Cristiano Ronaldo’s last dance), Netherlands, and dark horses like Morocco and Colombia all have realistic chances of making a deep run.
