2026 NBA All-Star weekend is here.  Young talent is in abundance in the NBA.

The 2026 Castrol Rising Stars game, part of NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, features a pool of young talent that was announced on January 26, 2026. 

The Rising Stars tournament delivered in entertainment and quality play. In the end, it was Team Vince, led by NBA Hall of Famer Vince Carter, who won the championship behind the play of 76ers rookie guard VJ Edgecombe.

He led all players across the competition with 23 combined points in the semifinal and final round. Team Vince toppled Team Melo by one point, 25-24, in the championship game.

Edgecombe won the Rising Stars Most Valuable Player award for his performance.

The game is a mini-tournament with four teams of seven players each, tipping off at 9 p.m. ET on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, streamed on Peacock.

VJ Edgecombe leads Team Vince past Team Melo to win Rising Stars Championship


Championship Game: Team Vince captured the Rising Stars title with a 25-24 win over Team Melo, finishing off a dramatic final sequence. Team Melo briefly took the lead late after Stephon Castle’s putback, but 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe responded by attacking the basket, drawing a foul, and calmly hitting two game-winning free throws. Edgecombe led Team Vince with 6 points in the championship.

SemiFinal 2 Game: To reach the final, Team Vince beat Team T-Mac 41-36 in the semifinals, powered by a dominant performance from Edgecombe. He scored a game-high 17 points, including Team Vince’s final 10 points, as Team T-Mac’s comeback attempt fell short due to missed chances in the paint.

SemiFinal 1 Game: On the other side, Team Melo advanced by defeating Team Austin 40-34. After Team Austin threatened an upset, Reed Sheppard hit back-to-back threes to swing momentum. Melo then closed strong with tough drives and key buckets, with Sheppard and Donovan Clingan leading the way with 9 points each, and Jeremiah Fears adding 7. 



What is the NBA Rising Stars.?


The NBA Rising Stars Challenge is the NBA’s annual showcase of the league’s premiere young talent. The event features first- and second-year players.

 It pits the best youngsters against each other in a contest similar to the All-Star Game, but 2022 introduced a new format that will remain this year.

What is the format of the NBA Rising Stars?


  • Game 1: Team Melo vs. Team Austin
  • Game 2: Team Vince vs. Team T-Mac
  • Rising Stars Championship: (G1 winner vs. G2 winner)

There will be three seven-player teams determined via draft by the four coaches selected for the event. The G League players will comprise the fourth team.

The three-game mini-tournament will have a semifinals and final to decide which squad of youngsters is the best.

Who are the coaches in the 2026 NBA Rising Stars?



A trio of Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famers are among the four coaches who will serve as honorary head coaches for the Castrol Rising Stars.

The NBA announced Tim Hardaway Sr., Chris Mullin and Mitch Richmond — all of whom are former Golden State Warriors players — will serve as honorary coaches as will former NBA player and Warriors guard Jeremy Lin.

Assistant coaches from the NBA All-Star Game coaching staffs – the Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder – will join the honorary head coaches in coaching the Castrol Rising Stars teams.
