For 12-year-old baseball players around the world, the Little League World Series is a life-changing sports experience.
The regional tournament will whittle down the field to just 10 teams, which will then have the honor of representing the United States in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Each team will be a proud ambassador from one of the following regions: Great Lakes, Metro Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, New England, Southwest, Southeast, Northwest, Mountain and West.
The international category will have 10 teams qualify for the tournament. The final 20 teams that head to Williamsport will engage in a fierce competition, playing 38 games over a span of 10 days. This will ultimately lead to the crowning of a new LLWS champion.
Lin Chin-Tse Dominates as Chinese Taipei Ends 29-Year in 2025 Little League World Series Win Drought
For the first time in nearly three decades, Chinese Taipei is back on top of the Little League world. Behind a dazzling performance from 12-year-old ace Lin Chin-Tse, the team defeated Nevada 7-0 on Sunday to capture the 2023 Little League World Series championship.
The victory snapped a 29-year title drought for Chinese Taipei, which last won in 1996. Despite the gap, the team still holds the second-most championships in tournament history with 18—trailing only the United States. Their golden era included a remarkable streak of five straight titles from 1977 to 1981.
When does the Little League World Series Start?
The 2026 Little League World Series is set to begin Wednesday, Aug. 19 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The tournament will feature 38 games over 10 days, broadcasted on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2. This year, there will be 10 teams representing various regions of the United States and 10 teams from international regions around the globe.
The United States and International championship games are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29. The winners of those games will advance to compete in the 2026 Little League World Series championship game on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 3 p.m. ET on ABC.
