Harper, Schwarber Powers Phillies down Astros To Take World Series Lead

The Philadelphia Phillies smashed five home runs to batter the Houston Astros 7-0 and take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven World Series.



After Monday's third game had to be postponed because of severe weather, the Phillies came back to Citizens Bank Park with a vengeance and dominated the Astros.

With a two-run, 402 foot home run off Astros starter Lance McCullers in the bottom of the first, Bryce Harper set the stage for an explosive start.



Alec Bohm launched a 373-foot home run into left field in the second inning, and Brandon Marsh followed with his third home run of the game to make it 4-0 after two innings.

The Astros' bats terrorised McCullers, but Ranger Suarez, the Phillies' starting pitcher, had no such issues.

The left-handed pitcher from Venezuela pitched five innings without allowing a run while fanning four.

The win leaves the Phillies just two wins from clinching the Major League Baseball crown, with games four and five in Philadelphia on Wednesday and Thursday.
