England heartbreak, Black ferns wins Women's Rugby WC for 6th time

Hosts Black ferns stunned England Red Roses 34-31, NZ wins the record Women's Rugby World Cups for 6th time in Auckland.




New Zealand have won the Rugby World Cup after a dramatic 34-31 victory over England at Eden Park, Record Women's Rugby World Cup for a sixth time on a historic night for Black ferns women's rugby at Eden Park.



The Red Roses led England for more than an hour after Lydia-Thompson was dismissed for a careless tackle, but the Red Roses maintained their lead going into the final minutes thanks to a hat-trick from Amy Cokayne, additional goals from Marlie Packer, and Ellie Kildunne.

Ayesha Leti-try I'iga's in the 71st minute in front of a sold-out home crowd gave the Black Ferns the lead, and New Zealand held on to defeat the pre-tournament favourites in an exciting match.

Red-Roses had a chance to win with one final line-out, which was their most effective weapon throughout the tournament, but they misfired, much to the glee of the raucous crowd, which set a record for a women's game at 43,759.
