The AFL Women’s league is Australia’s national Australian rules football league for female players.
The first season of the league began in February 2017 with 8 teams, expanded to 10 teams in the 2019 season, and expanded to 14 teams in the 2020 season. AND In the NINTH Season again in 2024 was the first to feature 18 AFLW clubs so far (4-teams added in 2022).
Each year, the premiership is awarded to the club that wins the AFL Women's Grand Final.
There was no finals series in the first two seasons. Adelaide has won the title three times.
North Melbourne has capped the first-ever undefeated season, winning the 2024 first AFLW premiership title in a 6.3 (39) to 1.3 (9) triumph over the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night.
There has been a men's AFL grand final winners since 1898.

The best and fairest award determined in the same way as the AFL Brownlow Medal Winners for men, As The officiating umpires will award votes on a 3,2,1 basis after each match, with votes to be counted as part of the W Awards and suspended players are ineligible.
