Davis Cup Finals 2025: Draw, Schedule, Results, Start-Times, Scores, Spainbeat Germany, set up final with Italy

The Davis Cup is a team tennis tournament played throughout the year. It’s often called the “World Cup of tennis.” It’s the biggest yearly international team event in any sport and was created in 1900 by Dwight Davis.

Italy Secures Historic Third Straight Davis Cup with Thrilling Win Over Spain

Italy has once again proven its dominance in men’s tennis, clinching the Davis Cup for the third consecutive year with a decisive 2-0 victory over Spain in Sunday’s final — and they did it without their superstar Jannik Sinner.

Matteo Berrettini set the tone, defeating Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-4, before Flavio Cobolli delivered a heart-stopping performance to beat Jaume Munar 1-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5, securing the championship. Cobolli’s celebration was unforgettable, dropping his racket and being lifted into the air by his teammates.

This marks Italy’s fourth Davis Cup title overall and the first time the team has lifted the trophy on home soil at Bologna’s SuperTennis Arena. The achievement also cements a historic three-peat, a streak last achieved by the United States from 1968-1972.

Despite missing Sinner and No. 8-ranked Lorenzo Musetti, Italy was unstoppable, winning all three of its matches 2-0, including quarterfinal and semifinal victories over Austria and Belgium. Spain, meanwhile, competed without top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz, returning to the final for the first time since 2019.

Italy’s Davis Cup legacy dates back to 1976, with wins in Malaga in 2023 and 2024, but this latest triumph — on home soil and against a storied Spanish team — showcases the depth, resilience, and rising talent of Italian men’s tennis.
