Following a tie for first place at 15-under 265, Zalatoris and Straka entered the playoff and Zalatoris finally found his luck.
The American finished his final round at 4-under 66 and advanced to a one-on-one match with the Austrian thanks to a key 10-foot putt for par.
Straka had a chance to completely avoid the scenario, but he narrowly missed a 20-foot birdie putt for the victory on the 18th hole, resulting in a final round score of 67.

Will Zalatoris gains entry into the top 10 for the first time after winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship and assumes the top slot in the FedEx Cup, giving him a good chance to win the $18 million prize in two weeks.
Straka climbs to No. 8 in the standings, ensuring he will attend his maiden Tour Championship at East Lake.
Scottie Scheffler, the Masters winner who failed to make the cut after day 2, continues to hold the No. 1 position in the world. Cameron Smith, who had the opportunity to succeed him by winning the TPC Southwind, instead tied for 13th place.
