Rafael Nadal’s dominance on clay continues with epic French Open win over Rival Novak Djokovic in 59th meetings.
- Rafael Nadal demonstrated once again why he is the greatest player in French Open history by beating long-time rival Novak Djokovic in a late-night thriller to reach the men's singles semi-finals.
Nadal beat top-seeded reigning French Open champion Novak Djokovic 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in four sets to go a step closer to his 14th title at the clay-court Grand Slam tournament and his 22nd major trophy overall, adding to the milestones he already holds.
In the second set, Nadal's 3-0 lead did him no good; Djokovic won it and later said, "I thought, 'OK, I'm back in the game.'"
However, Djokovic's 3-0 lead in the fourth did him no good, despite the fact that he served for it at 5-3 twice and was one point away from forcing a fifth. Nadal saved those set points, broke, and then dominated the last tiebreaker.
What's Next in Nadal's Bag.?
The 21-time Grand Slam winner now faces third seed Alexander Zverev on Friday, when turns out 36 (Birthday)..
