French Open 2022: Iga Swiatek beats Coco Gauff wins the Roland Garros women's final in Paris.
- Top seed Iga Swiatek underlined why she was the red-hot French Open favourite by beating Coco Gauff in straight sets to win her second Grand Slam title.
Swiatek, 21, of Poland, defeated the American youngster 6-1 6-3 to win her 35th match in a row, equaling the longest WTA winning run this century.
Gauff, who was playing in his first major singles final, got off to a shaky start.
Swiatek, who previously won Roland Garros in 2020, took full advantage of the situation and won her sixth title in a row.
Swiatek won the 56th of her 58 sets by rallying from a break down in the second set.
She also continued her winning streak in finals, extending it to nine in a row.
