Siraj stars as India rout Sri Lanka for eighth Asia Cup crown 2023.






  • The schedule for the 2023 Asia Cup, co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, is revealed with the tournament running from August 30 to September 17.



Sri Lanka had won the toss and elected to bat first, however, India was able to restrict the team at 50 runs in just 15.2 overs.


In a historic match, The Blues beat Sri Lanka by 10-wicket in a one-sided Asia Cup 2023 final, as India won the most Asia Cup titles for record 8th time in the history of tournament.


India’s Mohammad Siraj took six wickets, four of which came in a single over, while conceding only 21 runs.


Only two Sri Lankan batters managed to get into double figures, with Dushan Hamantha scoring an unbeaten 13 runs and Kusal Mendes adding another 17 runs.

This is the lowest score total in the history of Asia Cup since the previous record held by Bangladesh, who scored 87 runs against Pakistan in 2000.


India’s batting side sailed through the 51 target runs in just 6.1 overs with 10 wickets in hand.


 Sri Lanka won the previous 2022 edition, after beating Pakistan by 23 runs in the final held in Dubai.




  • The upcoming Asia Cup will be the 15th of its kind, having started way back in 1984 in Sharjah. Defending champions India are the most successful team, winning it seven times including the lone T20I edition in 2016. Sri Lanka have won the competition five times.

What is the Asia Cup Format for This Year ?


  • The Asia Cup 2023 kicks off on 30 August with two groups comprising three teams playing in round-robin style within their group. 
  • Top two sides from each group will then qualify for the Super Four stage.
  •  The Super Four will be another round-robin series of games.
  •  The top two sides from there will qualify for the final, to be played on 17 September in Colombo.
