Klopp's Liverpool beating Flamengo, became Club World Cup champions for the first time.

Roberto Firmino was the hero as his extra-time goal saw Liverpool crowned FIFA Club World Cup winners for the first time, defeating Flamengo 1-0 in a nail-biting encounter in Doha, Qatar. As the Reds became the second English side to win the tournament, after Manchester United in 2008.

It is the second trophy the Reds have won this season after they beat Chelsea to win the Uefa Super Cup in August.

In its current format of Club World Cup featuring seven teams and again consist of eight matches, with the draw that will determine the pairings for the second-round matches and the semi-finals taking place at the Home of FIFA in Zurich on 16 September.

. If a team from Qatar are the AFC champions, they will qualify directly for the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019, with the AFC runners-up playing the opening match against Hienghène Sport.
If the AFC Champions League winners are not a club from Qatar, then the current holders of the Qatar Stars League title, Al Sadd SC, will play the opening match against Hienghène Sport on 11 December.

Hienghène Sport from New Caledonia (winners of the 2019 OFC Champions League)

Liverpool FC from England (winners of the 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League).

Esperance Sportive de Tunis (Winners of the 2019 CAF Champions League)

Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia (Winners of the 2019 AFC Champions League)

Flamengo (Winners of the 2019 Copa del Libertadores)
