Lewis Hamilton wins after overtaking Bottas at start - Mercedes' 5th one-two victory in a row.

Winner in Bahrain GP, winner in China GP a 1000th victory and again winner in Spain GP.

Lewis Hamilton hit back in emphatic style on race day over rival Valtteri Bottas, to claim his third win of the season, as Mercedes stretched their current record of consecutive one-two finishes to a five consecutive in a row.

Hamilton takes ahead at the start of the race day over Bottas and leads throughout the Spanish Grand Prix to record third win in the current season F1 2019.

The Mercedes duo were joined on an identical podium to 2018 by the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, with the Ferrari pair of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc fourth and fifth, Verstappen maintaining his record of having finished ahead of at least one Ferrari at every race this season.

Max Verstappen speaks.

It was a hectic first corner so I backed out of it and ended up getting a good position for the rest of Lap 1. The Mercedes were too quick today, but we were competitive after them and it’s great to be on the podium.
Verstappen says: "I’m just looking at it, and seeing what’s different to mine."

Valtteri Bottas speaks.

"It was pretty tight but I lost it at the start, there was strange behaviour on the clutch, it was releasing, biting, releasing, biting and I've not felt that before.
"As a team it's incredible, the fifth one-two in a run is really good. I got some points and that's important, every point will count, but I have to find out what happened at the start."

Lewis Hamilton speaks.

I have to put it down to this incredible team. This is history in the making, with five 1-2 finishes in a row. I’m so happy for every one of them. It was an interesting start. I saw the red car of the Ferrari go around the back of us. I knew Valtteri would brake super deep and thankfully, it wasn’t a replay of Baku…[On the fastest lap] I was trying to keep the tyres warm. I haven’t had a fastest lap all year and it was about time.
