Wild-card round

Jan. 5

Indianapolis Colts    21  -  7    Houston Texans.

Colts' revamped offensive line stars in win over Texans.

Minutes later, the Colts submitted their card -- for Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson. Casual fans yawned. Diehards roared. Nearly nine months later, Colts GM Chris Ballard looks like a genius.

Nelson, an All-Pro selection as a rookie, has keyed a collective turnaround up front, propelling the Colts from one of the league's worst outfits to one of its best with a bright future. Need proof? Check Saturday's 21-7 playoff win over the Texans.

Seattle Seahawks    22  -  24    Dallas Cowboys.

Cowboys run past Seahawks, into Divisional Round.

The Dallas Cowboys will have a chance to play in their first conference title game since the 1995 season after edging the Seahawks, 24-22, on Saturday at AT&T Stadium. They now await Sunday's Bears-Eagles winner to find out whether they travel to the Saints or Rams next weekend.

Jan. 6

Los Angeles Chargers    23  -  17    Baltimore Ravens.

Chargers Stopped & go ahead as Baltimore Ravens face pivotal offseason.

Despite Jackson's wild aim and the offensive line's sieve-like performance, for three and a half quarters. The Ravens fell behind from a series of paper cuts, field goals by the Los Angeles Chargers that barely drew blood against the Ravens' stellar defense.
And so the Ravens lost 23-17 to the Chargers, who move on to play the New England Patriots in Foxborough in the Divisional Round next Sunday. The Chargers with Philip Rivers are 0-7 against the Patriots when Tom Brady has played

Philadelphia Eagles    16  -  15    Chicago Bears.

Eagles revenge of W-11 & Nick Foles again perfor. road playoff win over Bears.

As much as people will focus on a missed 43-yard field goal by Chicago Bears kicker Cody Parkey in the Eagles' 16-15 NFC wild-card win on Sunday, that blown opportunity will obscure what Foles did for his team in this victory. He once again proved that he can deliver his best performances even when he looks his worst.

Divisional round

Jan. 12

Indianapolis Colts   13  -  31    Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs' defense plays starring role in dominant playoff home victory in 25 Years.

The Chiefs' 31-13 Divisional Round win over the Indianapolis Colts was the kind of victory this team needed. Nobody doubted Kansas City would score points in the postseason, not with Mahomes and the league's best offense benefitting from a first-round bye

Dallas Cowboys    22  -  30    Los Angeles Rams.

The Cowboys offense showed signs of life after importing Amari Cooper via trade. Dallas, however, came up short in Saturday's 30-22 playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams. With Ezekiel Elliott stymied for 47 rushing yards, the Cowboys put up just 308 total yards on the night, including a season-low 1-of-10 on third downs.

Jan. 13

Los Angeles Chargers    28  -  41    New England Patriots.

Tom Brady and his charges authored the longest opening postseason drive of Bill Belichick's tenure in New England. the Chargers employed a wire-to-wire mix of seven defensive backs that threw Lamar Jackson into chaos, but Brady exists in a different world. The Patriots controlled both lines from the start, while the swarming Chargers defense we saw against Baltimore morphed into a soft cadre of would-be tacklers who appeared mystified on how to disrupt Brady and allowed White to make an NFL postseason-record 15 grabs.

Philadelphia Eagles     14   -  20    New Orleans Saints.

Saints will on "Route" to 18-play 'championship drive'

Down 14-10 early in the third quarter, the Saints put together an 18-play, 92-yard masterpiece that consumed an eye-popping 11:29 off the clock to produce what eventually became the game-winning touchdown in a 20-14 win Sunday over the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round.

2019 Championship games

Jan. 20

New Orleans Saints   23  -  26    Los Angeles Rams,  -   NFC Championship Game.

Rams head to Super Bowl on 57-yard overtime field goal as blown call ends Saints season.

In the aftermath of the Los Angeles Rams' overtime victory over the New Orleans Saints one key play goes overlooked.
The non-call pass interference on Tommylee Lewis will be a talking point all offseason. Jared Goff will spend the next two weeks getting sea-poems written about his heroics. And Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein earned high praise for nailing his 57-yard game-winning field goal.
Those storylines might not carry the same weight without Dante Fowler's huge hit of Drew Brees on the first possession in overtime that caused a game-changing interception.

New England Patriots   37  -  31    Kansas City Chiefs, AFC Championship Game.

Tony Romo was the real star of the Patriots wins Chiefs in AFC championship game.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be wise to learn a valuable lesson from their 37-31 overtime loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. The Chiefs' season is now over because the Patriots still know best how to win games when they matter most. It didn't because they couldn't make stops at critical moments, couldn't produce enough key plays when the opportunities presented themselves and couldn't find an answer for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
