Anthony Joshua will fight against Alexander Povetkin at Wembley (London) in September.




British, 28 years old, Anthony Joshua wins the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles with unanimous points over New Zealander Joseph Parker in Cardiff (Wales) in March.


Now Joshua has had a chance to defend his WBA, IBF and WBO World heavyweight titles in September at London in Wembley Stadium.

Joshua promoter Eden Hazard has confirmed the dates for the fight between Anthony Joshua against Alexander Povetkin, that will happen on 22 September at London in historic Wembley Stadium.



Russiam, 31 years old, Alexander Povetkin is the mandatory defense of  WBA heavyweight title.

The nicknamed the 'White Lion'  Povetkin previous fight was also organized in March, against David Price in which he has had won the 24 fights out 34 via a knockout.

 The Russian has experienced just one defeat since his professional debut in 2005, beaten by unanimous decision to Wladimir Klitschko in Moscow in 2013.

Povetkin was also banned in March 2017 due to the positive drug test, after nine-month later he was cleared to starts his Fighting Career.



Both are the Olympic Champions, Anthony Joshua gets the Gold Medal in Super heavyweight in London 2012 Olypic games, while the Alexander Povetkin got the same category Gold medal in Athens 2004 Olympic games.



 The Joshua had been in training while arrangements with WBC champion Deontay Wilder,
32 years old, American WBC Champion, Wilder has offered to Joshua $50m (£37.2m) to fight in the USA, but the Joshua wants the fight home country,  but could yet fight with the American in April 2019.


 Wilder defeat Luis Ortiz in his last fight in March, a record wins 39 out of 40  Pro. victories by knockout, but unfortunately American Wilder couldn't get all four World heavyweight titles yet.

Anthony Joshua said in a statement:



 “I can’t wait to get back in the ring, the end of March feels a long time ago now,” said Joshua.

“Povetkin is a serious challenge that I will prepare meticulously for. He has the serious pedigree and only a fool would underestimate what he brings to the table.

“Training hasn’t stopped for me, but the next 10 weeks ahead will be intense both mentally and physically. I will push myself to the breaking point to make sure I am in peak condition for another huge night for British boxing at Wembley Stadium on September 22nd.”



Alexander Povetkin said in a Statement:


"To beat David Price on the undercard of Joshua's victory over Joseph Parker in March, having previously fought for the titles Joshua now holds in a 2013 defeat to Wladimir Klitschko."
