The first World Grand Prix took place in Llandudno in 2015 when Judd Trump beat Ronnie O'Sullivan 10-7.

The World Grand Prix is a professional ranking snooker tournament. The first edition was played in 2015 at the Venue Cymru in Llandudno, Wales.


The Ladbrokes World Grand Prix is one of snooker's newest events and was staged for the first time in 2015 when Judd Trump beat Ronnie O'Sullivan 10-7 in the final in Llandudno. Shaun Murphy defeated Stuart Bingham in a final-frame decider at the same venue 12 months later but in 2016 the event has moved to Preston's Guild Hall.

The Grand Prix is the first event in the Players Series where qualification is based on rankings on the single-season list. The top 32 players on the one-year list (after the Scottish Open) qualify for this event and then the top 16 qualify for the Players Championship. The series finale is the Tour Championship where only the top 12 players are eligible.

Mark Allen will be aiming to defend his title after the Northern Irishman prevailed past Judd Trump with an epic 10-9 victory last year, while Ronnie O'Sullivan is hoping to win the tournament for a fourth time.

There is a total prize fund of £380,000 for the World Grand Prix with £100,000 going to the winner.

The first World Grand Prix in 2015 had a total prize fund of £300,000.
