Antonelli just does enough to claim second, ahead of Verstappen in third. Nevertheless, pit lane to P3 for Verstappen! But is that his title chances over?

🏁 NORRIS WINS THE SÃO PAULO GRAND PRIX

Another super comfortable win for Norris who extends his lead in the drivers' title.

Antonelli holds on to P2; Verstappen P3

Antonelli just does enough to claim second, ahead of Verstappen in third. Nevertheless, pit lane to P3 for Verstappen! But is that his title chances over?

Russell holds on to P4; Piastri fifth

Great defending from Russell to keep P4 ahead of Piastri. What a big day in the title fight.

Bearman magic again in P6!

Fair play Bearman! Another incredible result with P6, that will be a huge boost for Haas again in the standings.

Lap 71/71 - ANTONELLI WIDE!

Did I speak too soon! Antonelli is so wide in Turn 9!

Lap 71/71 - No way past for Verstappen

That is the final chance Verstappen will get unless he can do something truly incredible. P3 it looks like.

Lap 70/71 - Verstappen has one final chance

Verstappen still cannot get past Antonelli. He will have one final chance on the last lap.

Lap 68/71 - Verstappen on Antonelli's rear

Here we go then, Verstappen is comfortably within DRS of Antonelli. P2 is within his sights

Lap 66/71 - Good lap Verstappen

Verstappen has posted a good lap and is now 1.4s behind Antonelli. He is giving it everything.

Lap 64/71 - Verstappen two seconds behind Antonelli

Verstappen is two seconds adrift of Antonelli with eight laps remaining. His gap to Norris is 9.5s.

Lap 62/71 - Verstappen has DRS on Russell

Verstappen is all over the back of Russell. He must clear the Briton quickly.

Verstappen is now 12 seconds behind Norris. Norris' tyres are 14 laps old, Verstappen's are two laps old!

VERSTAPPEN PITS

Lap 55/71 - THIS IS HUGE! Verstappen pits for NEW soft tyres. His pace started to slip on the mediums, but now he can charge for his life.

This is the biggest 16 laps of Verstappen's season.

Will Verstappen pit again?

Lap 53/71 - Verstappen does have a new set of soft tyres should he pit again. That might be a very good idea given how fast his pace would become.

Piastri pits

Lap 52/71 - Piastri now in for his final pit stop, he rejoins in P7. Time for Piastri to get his elbows out.

Verstappen leads the São Paulo GP

Lap 51/71 - From the pit lane, Verstappen leads the São Paulo GP. Verstappen's problem is that Norris will have much better pace.

If race finished now Norris' lead increases to 24 points!

Lap 46/71 - If the race finished in this order, Norris' lead would increase to 24 points over Piastri. Verstappen would fall to 52 points adrift.

Piastri fifth

Lap 46/71 - Worth pointing out also that Piastri is into fifth. But will he need to pit again?

Verstappen five seconds behind Russell

Leclerc OUT, Piastri up to second. I think the Aussie may be in trouble here....

He just stays ahead, but Piastri collides with Antonelli - and Leclerc is impacted too!

Leclerc has stopped at turn 4, his suspension is broken!

Leclerc is OUT! And Piastri is up to second.

Safety car (Lap 2/72)

Ah poor Gabriel Bortoleto - it’s head in hands for his family in the Sauber garage.

He’s out of his first home grand prix. He was squeezed into the wall by Lance Stroll. “Yeah Stroll pushed me out, he turned like I didn’t know was there.”

Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, has front-wing damage and dives into the pits - he’ll be dead-last.

Norris does well at lights out, weeving to the inside to cut-off Antonelli!

They’re all away smoothly on the main straight but Lewis Hamilton has dropped from 13th to 18th!

And Gabriel Bortoleto has slammed into the wall at turn 10! Can he get it out the wall?

Formation lap

Lando Norris leads the 18-car pack around the circuit for the formation lap.

One of the great national anthems this... performed by Brazilian singer Thiaguinho.

Four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, on the grid in Brazil:

“First time I’m on the grid since Abu Dhabi 2022! So many people on the grid!

“There’s things I miss, but looking forward to the race.”

Gabriel Bortoleto's home race

The 21-year-old endured a torrid Saturday, with his massive crash in the sprint meaning he couldn’t take part in qualifying for his first home grand prix.

Track & Race Insights

Interlagos is one of the most iconic venues in F1 — compact, anti-clockwise, and full of character. The lap opens with the famous Senna S, a downhill chicane that rewards bravery and precision. From there, drivers battle sweeping corners, cambered turns, and the long, uphill drag to the finish line.

The circuit’s elevation changes make it physically demanding and mechanically challenging. Add São Paulo’s unpredictable weather — often hot and humid one minute, soaked with rain the next — and you have a recipe for chaos.

This is the track where championships are often won, lost, or rewritten. Think Senna’s emotional home victory, Hamilton’s last-corner title in 2008, or Verstappen’s storming drives through the field.

Why It Matters

Interlagos has a knack for unpredictability — think Senna’s home triumphs, Hamilton’s miracle title in 2008, and that wild 2019 podium. The combination of high altitude, tricky corners, and sudden rain makes this circuit one of the great equalizers of F1.

The 2025 race could play a decisive role in the championship fight — and with a Sprint weekend on the cards, every session counts.
