National League Championship Series Winners List: CLCS Results, Past champions by year, History Since 1969

Shohei Ohtani has done it again — and this time, he’s carried the Los Angeles Dodgers all the way back to the World Series.

In a jaw-dropping two-way showcase that felt straight out of baseball mythology, Ohtani crushed three towering home runs and fanned 10 batters while pitching into the seventh inning, leading L.A. to a 5–1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers and a sweep in the NLCS.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called it “probably the greatest postseason performance of all time,” and it’s hard to argue. With this electrifying night, the three-time MVP not only silenced doubts after a quiet postseason but also etched his name even deeper into baseball lore — earning NLCS MVP honors and giving the Dodgers a shot at becoming MLB’s first back-to-back World Series champions in 25 years.

When he signed his record $700 million, 10-year contract last December, Ohtani agreed to defer $68 million annually to give the team payroll flexibility. The Dodgers signed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, traded for pitcher Tyler Glasnow and signed outfielder Teoscar Hernández, among other moves.

Year-by-year results in the National League Championship Series since divisional play began in 1969 to 2025:
