  • The 2023 Little League World Series was the 2nd-year to include 20 teams, but even with more competition, no one was a match for Californian.



The Little League World Series increased to 20 teams for 2023 season rather than resuming with 16 teams divided between the United States and other nations.

Which country has won the most Little League World Series titles?




The United States has won 39 LLWS championships, which is more than all other nations combined. The winners hail from 14 different states.



Because overseas teams were not yet permitted to compete in the competition, the first 10 titles remained in the United States. Since there were 16 American teams in the field in 2021, it was also won by default.



Angel Macias' perfect game in the championship game helped Monterrey Industrial Little League of Mexico win the inaugural international championship in 1957, the first competition to include nations outside the United States.


Chinese Taipei has the most LLWS titles of any non-U.S. country, winning all 17 of its titles between 1969 and 1996.

  Japan has the second-most titles of any international country with 11, including five since 2010.

With Eight LLWS championship victories, California tops the list. The most recent state champion, from El Segundo, Calif. in 2023, Huntington Beach is also one of the six teams from just Southern California.
With four each, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania are tied for second place.

Nine states have won several LLWS crowns overall, while five states have only one.

The 2023 Little League World Series will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 16 and run until Sunday, Aug. 27.


The tournament will celebrate its 76th anniversary in the same location it has been played in since its berth: Williamsport, Pa. The games will be played in both Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Volunteer Stadium.
