2025-26 NBA Sportsmanship award, Full Winners List since 1996.
The NBA Sportsmanship Award trophy is named in honor of Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Joe Dumars, a six-time NBA All-Star and two-time NBA champion.
Presented annually since the 1995-96 season, the NBA Sportsmanship Award honors a player who best represents the ideals of sportsmanship on the court.
The trophy is named for Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and two-time NBA champion Joe Dumars, who won the inaugural NBA Sportsmanship Award and played his entire 14-year career with the Detroit Pistons.
Dumars played 14 NBA seasons and won the inaugural Sportsmanship Award in the 1995-96 season.
Each Year at the end of NBA Regular Season, the NBA’s 30 teams nominated one player for the sportsmanship award, and league executives narrowed that list down to six finalists — one from each division.
Each team nominated one of its players for the Sportsmanship Award.
From the 30 nominees, a panel of league executives selected six finalists (one per division).
Current NBA players then voted to select the winner from the finalists.
