Riyadh Season Snooker Championship 2025 RESULTS: Zhao Xintong BEATS Neil Robertson in final win £250k jackpot.
World champion Zhao Xintong beat Neil Robertson 5-2 to win the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship.
Zhao is now the 11th different winner in 11 professional events this season, and he earned £250,000 for his victory in Saudi Arabia.
After the first two frames were shared, Zhao made excellent breaks of 131 and 134, winning the next three frames to lead 4-1.
Robertson made a 91 to close the gap, but Zhao, who is 28 and from China, finished the match with another strong break in the seventh frame.
"I didn’t want Neil to see that I was nervous. I was really looking forward to this final because he’s a great player and someone I wanted to face. I’m very happy now," Zhao said.
"It’s been an amazing week. It’s my first time in Saudi Arabia, and I could see many people were supporting me."
It was a calm ending to the day for Zhao, who earlier had a tough 4-3 win over world number one Judd Trump in the semi-finals.
Their match went back and forth — Trump led 2-0 and 3-2 — but Zhao held his nerve. He also made the tournament’s highest break, a 138, against Trump.
Robertson, who has been playing well over the past year and a half, had hoped to become the first player this season to win more than one title. He reached the final after beating Mark Allen 4-1.
"A few tired misses cost me against Zhao. I played far below the level I showed earlier, and he punished me," Robertson said.
In his win over Allen, Robertson made a great 73 clearance. Allen had earlier potted nine reds with blacks and was trying for a 147, but he missed on 72. If he had completed the 147, he could have then potted the special 20-point golden ball for a 167 break and a $1 million (£763,000) bonus.
