Spain first time host, WMRA confirmed 2020 World Cup calendar

World Mountain Running World Cup 2020 Calendar: Full Races Schedule dates, Locations.





 Not only will Spain host WMRA World Cup events for the first time in history, but there will now be three types of unique races to choose from: the vertical uphill, classic mountain race and long mountain race in The 22nd edition of the 2020 World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) World Cup calendar.

Runners amass points to compete for the overall title.

 There are nine events with 12 possible races to choose from – three vertical uphill, five classic mountain and four long mountain.

 Spain kicks off the series in grand style, with the unique Basque passion for mountain running to welcome mountain runners from all over the world at Zumaia Flysch Trail Mendi Maratoia on 3 May.


 The 2020 World Cup will culminate with one more vertical uphill race on 4 October – the Kilometro Verticale Chiavenna-Lagunac in Italy, also known as the ‘vertical race of the records’.

3 May:   Zumaia Flysch Mendi Maratoia   –   Zumaia-Gipuzkoa, ESP


16-17 May:   Trofeo Nasego – Nasego, ITA   --  ( Vertical uphill race - a distance of 4.2km & next day the classic mountain race 21.5km course with 1336m of climbing.)


21 Jun:   Broken Arrow Skyrace   –   Squaw Valley, USA


12 Jul: Grossglockner Berglauf   –   Heiligenblut, AUT   --   ( classic mountain race -  13km race with 1265m Uphill)


9 Aug: Sierre-Zinal – Sierre-Zinal, SUI   --   (31 km race)


16 Aug:   Krkonosky Half Marathon –   Jasnke Lazne, CZE  --   (classic mountain race at 21km with 1200m of climbing)


12-13 Sep: Canfranc-Canfranc Maratón – Canfranc-Estacion, ESP     --   ( 45km (and +3910m) long mountain race or the classic mountain distance with 1195m of ascent)


19 Sep: Nordkette Vertical – Innsbruck, AUT   --   ( an uphill race on 16 September with 1400m of ascent over its 6km route.)


4 Oct: Chiavenna-Lagunac – Chiavenna, ITA
