Rome to host 2022 swimming European championship

Italian Capital Rome to host the 2022 swimming European championship.





The Italian capital, Rome selected venue to host the European Swimming Championships of 2022. This will be the second time Rome has hosted the event after hosting it in 1983. The European Swimming Championships will take place between August 11 and 21.

This championship has four disciplines (in long pools), jumps, water polo, open water, and synchronized swimming, and it also includes high-rise jumps for the first time since 2013 championships.

 The Italic Forum will host swimming and diving competitions, while the adjacent tennis center would temporarily become the venue for artistic swimming.

 In total, Italy has been three times the venue for the European Water Sports Championships. Apart from Rome in 1983, they also hosted the competition in Turin in 1954 and the second of the championships in Bologna around 1927.

The 2020 European Swimming Championships venue will be Budapest (Hungary) between May 11 and 24, prior to the Olympic Games.




 "I have the honor to announce that the LEN has chosen Rome as the venue for the 2022 edition of our most important competition, the European Water Sports Championships," said Paolo Barelli, president of the LEN. "I am sure that we can live another memorable event in our magnificent complex of the Italian Forum, home of many great championships in the past, and the other venues will also reflect the beauty of our Eternal City."
